![]() Some property owners choose to leave tree stumps behind because they’re difficult to remove. While there are numerous DIY guides one can freely find online and from other resources, the job is just not as simple as it seems. Some stumps are too large, heavy, and hard to easily remove. In these cases, stump grinding and removal assistance from experts may be necessary. For some property owners, stumps don’t cause problems so they choose to leave them behind. However, many more acknowledge the importance of stump removal. A tree stump may not be a problem now, but should you wait for unfortunate incidents to happen before doing something? First of all, it is not best to attempt stump grinding and removal on your own. If you are going to buy a stump grinder just for this purpose, it is best to just spend the cost of the equipment to hire experts to do the job. After all, it’s not every day an average owner would have to remove a stump. Stumps are removed because of a variety of reasons. Among these are the following: 1. Stumps don’t look good - Unless you decorate them and make them part of your overall landscape, stumps are unattractive to look at in an otherwise beautiful garden. 2. Stumps can cause accidents - You can trip over stumps especially those that are hidden beneath tall grasses. 3. Stumps are obstructions to your property - For example, while mowing your lawn, you have to go around a stump instead of just mowing the entire area in one go. If your kids are playing in your garden, a stump may be blocking their way. 4. Stumps may be infested by pests - Aside from the great possibility of termites, ants, and other pests to infest these stumps, they will also decay through time. Decaying stumps are certainly not good for your garden and the plants that surround it. If you need assistance in stump grinding and removal, it is best to call a licensed tree contractor. I find it amazing to learn that there are two different ways to deal with stumps, it's either you remove or grind it down. My uncle has a couple of stumps in his yard and he's curious about how he could deal with these. What you said about how he shouldn't wait for an accident to happen before he decides to remove it is indeed correct. I should share this with him so he'd get convinced to have it ground by an expert.
